Do hair transplants work for everyone?

People who suffer from a receding hairline, thinning of hair or bald patches on their scalp choose hair transplants as a treatment.

The process is somewhat simple –

Hair strands along with their live follicular units are taken from areas of the scalp of the patient where he/she still has an active hair growth cycle going on. The extracted hair strands along with their live follicular units are then grafted to the bald patches or areas with thinning/receding hairline on the scalp of the patient.

According to an expert associated with Blue Magic Clinic which happens to be the best hair transplant clinic in Turkey Istanbul, globally, more than sixty per cent of males and close to fifty per cent of women get diagnosed with male and female pattern baldness, bald patches or a thinning/receding hairline. To address this, people often choose hair transplant as a treatment when over-the-counter drugs fail to provide them with the necessary results.

A little more insight!

The back of the patient’s head serves as a donor area. But if that is not possible due to poor quality of donor hair strands and their follicular units, a hair transplant specialist can also take hair strands from other parts of the patient’s body.

Before the transplant procedure commences, the hair transplant surgeon sterilizes the target as well as the donor area. To numb these areas we apply local anesthesia. If the patient wishes to go fully unconscious during the course of the procedure, that is also possible..

Time taken to complete the procedure and related information

There are two distinct types of hair transplant treatments. They are FUT and FUE.

Now, irrespective of the treatment type chosen by a surgeon for his/her patient, both the patient and the surgeon would need to stay in the OT for several hours. It all boils down to the amount of work the surgeon has to do on the scalp of his/her patient.

Post-surgery, the surgeon will carefully remove the bandages. The area that went under the knife is bound to be swollen. The surgeon would apply or inject the necessary medication to help control the swelling.

So do they work for everyone?

Long story short – no, it doesn’t!

As per the opinion of a hair transplant surgeon, hair transplant treatment is not the solution for everyone.

The treatment will only show promising results when:

  • The patient does not have a widespread case of bald parches in his/her scalp or a thinning hairline that is out of control!
  • The patient did not lose his or her hair as a side-effect of chemotherapy or related medications.
  • The patient’s scalp does not have a thick scalp tissue riddled with scars from injuries.

Conclusion

Before you decide to get under the knife, talk to at least two hair transplant specialists. This simple step will ensure that your treatment type will be appropriate for you. Also will make sure that the results will match your preferences. For more details, be sure to check out the official website
